ALTHOUGH ALL MEMBER’S OF THE PRO TEAM ARE HIGHLY SKILLED AND BOAST INDUSTRY LEADING EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS – EACH ARTIST HAS THEIR OWN STRENGTHS AND SPECIALITIES, MEANING YOU CAN CHOSE WHO YOU FEEL IS MOST SUITABLE TO YOUR MAKEUP AND HAIR PREFERENCE.
Once you have selected your preferred artist or stylist, we will arrange a makeup and hair bridal trial. We recommend scheduling your trial 12 weeks before your wedding date, after key aspects of your wedding, such as your dress, are finalized. Trials are usually held in one of our salons located in Kent (Brasted – Sevenoaks / Southborough – Tunbridge Wells). We can also travel to you for trials at an additional cost. Weekend trials are limited and subject to availability.
If you would like to bring members of your bridal party, we recommend booking during off-peak salon times so we can accommodate everyone. For groups of four or more, we can host private bridal trial parties, including grazing platters and prosecco upon request.
Before your trial, we suggest looking at sites like Pinterest for inspiration on looks and styles you’d like to try. You can also visit our bridal-specific Instagram page – @themakeupandhairagency. Please keep in mind that some makeup looks and hairstyles may require additional services such as hair extensions or false lashes to achieve your desired look. If you plan to use clip-in or permanent hair extensions, please bring them along or have them fitted before your trial. Clip-in extensions should be of high quality to allow for proper styling. If you’re unsure which brand to purchase, feel free to contact us before your trial.
We also ask that you set realistic expectations for your trial and consider images that are not heavily filtered, edited, or airbrushed, opting instead for more ‘real life’ images. It is important to inform us of any allergies or conditions that may affect your makeup application or hair styling.
During the trial, you will have a full in-depth consultation with your artist or stylist, covering aspects such as your usual makeup or hair routine, desired looks, colors, and tones you may want to try. A final look and products will be agreed upon and noted. Arrival times and any necessary preparations (such as when to wash your hair) will be discussed, agreed upon, and finalized.
Each wedding we work on is unique and tailored to you, so we avoid giving specific timing details before your trial. Until we know all the looks and styles required for you and your bridal party, it can be challenging to determine specific details. However, rest assured, we will always create a plan to ensure your wedding morning is relaxed and runs smoothly, giving you time for all other elements such as pictures, putting on your dress, etc.
We strongly recommend having the makeup and hair trial together, as it can be difficult to envision the complete look with only one component. To get the most out of your trial, we recommend coming with a look or style in mind. During your appointment, we can try up to two styles or adaptations and will ensure you are satisfied before you leave. If you wish to have another trial, it will be charged at the same rate as your initial trial.
On the day of the wedding, the artist, stylist, or team will arrive at the agreed time and location where you and your bridal party will be getting ready. A schedule of the day, along with any necessary preparations, will be finalized during the trial. If there are any changes to this schedule, please inform us immediately. While we will do our best to accommodate any changes, we cannot guarantee flexibility, as the team often schedules other bookings around your wedding day.

The Ultimate Bespoke Facial by Renew Clinic
Each facial is bespoke to each client following a thorough consultation, meaning the products and methods used will depend on your skin requirements and needs to get you wedding-ready! We advise having monthly facials prior to your wedding date to get flawless skin, which will help your makeup stay throughout the day. Sometimes the results of your facial will show the following week, and your skin may be sensitive/red afterward, so we advise that you have at least one trial facial and the final facial before your wedding 7+ days prior.
Book in for a free consultation with our skin expert Tammy to see which facial is best for you.

The Biosculpture Luxury Gel Manicure
This is more than your standard gel manicure, using only the highest quality brands and products on the market by our talented manicurist Rayhana, who offers this service. Rayhana is renowned for her clean and flawless manicures, having had her work featured in the likes of Vogue, Glamour Magazine, and Grazia. The manicure includes in-depth cuticle work, a luxury hand scrub, and precise application.
We recommend having a couple of manicures prior to your wedding day to strengthen and grow your natural nails, which can be achieved with the Biosculpture range and good aftercare. We then recommend booking in advance your final bridal manicure 2/3 days prior to your wedding day.
Price: £45-£50
The Sienna X Spraytan
We offer spray tans in solutions “Clear” & 6-16%, meaning that we have a shade for each bride, regardless of your naturally fair/dark skin tone, and tailored to how light/dark you would like your tan to be for your wedding day. We recommend fully exfoliating before your tan and not applying deodorant or perfume prior.
Before booking your wedding tan, we advise at least one trial spray tan to determine which shade you would like and also how the tan develops on your skin to know what timeframe prior it should be booked for. Following your spray tan, you should moisturize and exfoliate gently to prolong the results.
Reliability
You are trusting this person with the biggest day of your life. There is no rescheduling or canceling your wedding day. Our team has not let a bride down even in family emergencies, illness, and transport dramas. If a situation arises, we will do whatever it takes to be there or have a team of 11 behind us to fall on in an emergency. Please ensure when looking for an artist/stylist that they have a good reputation, check for genuine reviews, or go off personal recommendations from people who have actually used the artist/stylist.
Price
A price reflects the artist/stylist’s experience, qualifications, kit, insurance, and having them exclusively on your wedding morning. A price for a bride is typically around the £100-£200 mark depending on the above points. It is more expensive than a ‘typical makeup appointment’ due to the care and prep in the lead-up to the wedding that goes into the bride. Wedding mornings can actually be quite exhausting due to the pressure we put in to ensure you look perfect. Be cautious of very low bridal prices and be sure what that includes. Remember you are trusting this person to take the time and attention to execute your vision of how you want to look on your big day.
Portfolio
Have you seen a mixture of both pictures and videos of the artist/stylist’s work? Including different hair lengths, colors, textures, and thicknesses? Have you seen an artist’s work on a variety of ages, skin tones, and makeup preferences (full, natural, soft glam, etc.)? It is important that your artist/stylist is going to be able to cater to everyone requiring services in your bridal party. Both makeup and hair are very personal as everyone has different visions of how they would like to look. This is why it is important to do your research and find someone whose work represents what you are looking for.
Payment
We take a deposit to secure your wedding day and then request the full balance 7 days prior to your wedding day. If you are planning a wedding a couple of years ahead, be cautious of any supplier who asks for the full payment years in advance to secure the wedding. Be sure to have the following agreed: What would happen in the event of the artist/stylist having a change in circumstances (pregnancy, for example) and no longer be able to fulfill your booking, would you get a refund? Are they a limited company or sole trader? If the business closed or they were no longer trading, would you be protected?
Makeup Artist & Hairstylist
We highly recommend booking a makeup artist and hairstylist who are from the same company or used to working together. The reason for this is that we know each other’s timings, styles of working, and how we cope under pressure. Most importantly, we can liaise in the lead-up to the wedding to discuss timings and changes to the plan on the morning. We also recommend having the makeup/hair trial together; otherwise, it can be difficult to envision the final look. If you do, however, have a makeup artist and hairstylist from different sources, we recommend giving one another’s contact details prior.
The Lead-Up
The lead-up to the wedding is just as important as your artist/stylist being present on the wedding day. You want to feel that you are in safe hands, and your bridal artist/stylist is contactable if you have any questions/changes or need anything clarifying. At The Makeup & Hair Bar, we pride ourselves on having a dedicated bridal admin team who work Monday-Friday. This means you can contact us throughout the week for anything mentioned above. We also can help you plan all of your pre-wedding services if you wish, like your spray tan, nails, facial, etc. We offer every service in our salon, so we are able to book everything for you effortlessly in the correct timeline leading up to your big day.
